A great way to support DECA is through volunteer service!

Volunteer Opportunities Include, but are not limited to, the following:

DECA PREP: Grades K-4

  • Bucket Buddy: One-on-one engagement with a student who is struggling academically.  Work to complete activities created by the teacher from their “classroom bucket.”

  • Book Club Leader: Read a chapter book with a small group of academically advanced 3rd-4th graders over several weeks. Discuss the story or complete a writing project about the book.

  • Homework Club Helper: This is an opportunity for Kindergarten through 4th grade students to complete homework after school in a quiet, supervised space.

  • 3rd Grade Reading Test Boot Camp: Help 3rd grade students prepare for the Ohio State Testing by tutoring small groups, reading passages for comprehension and asking questions similar to those on the test.

  • Office Assistant: Support our teachers and staff by completing office tasks as necessary. This always saves our teachers time and is so appreciated!
Time Commitment: Assist weekly or a set schedule we establish.

DECA High: Grades 9-12

  • Student Ambassador Training: Work with students on their interpersonal and speaking skills to prepare them to be Student Ambassadors who will represent DECA.

  • Professional Lecture: Educate a small group of students on the field in which you work.

  • Gateway Panelist: Sit on panel for student gateway presentations, edit papers, provide feedback - brief mandatory training required prior to presentation.

  • Foster Grandparent: Mentor an at-risk DECA high school student.

  • Host Student for Job Shadow/Internship:  Invite a student to your place of work to shadow you and learn about a trade.

  • Edit Night: Work individually with students on draft level papers to correct grammar, syntax, and to improve the development of their ideas.
