A great way to support DECA:

Bucket Buddy: Engage with a student while completing activities created by the teacher from their “classroom bucket.” Bucket Buddies meet weekly with students.
Book Club Leader: Read a chapter book with a small group of 3rd or 4th grade students over multiple weeks. Develop conversation around the story elements or complete a writing/art project about the book. Book Club leaders meet weekly with students.
Book Fair Helper: The Book Fair takes place at DECA PREP twice per year. Help students select age-appropriate books and encourage a passion for reading! Dates/Times TBD
- Special Area Class Helper: Provide an extra set of hands for art, music, PE, or library teachers
DECA Middle: Grades 5-8
Location: 110 N. Patterson Blvd. Dayton, OH 45402
Book Club Leader: Read a chapter book with a small group of 5-8th grade students over multiple weeks. Develop conversation around the story elements or complete a writing/art project about the book. Most book groups take place during the school hours. Book Club leaders meet weekly with students. (varying levels)
After School Clubs: Do you have a niche skill you are willing to share with students (chess, drama, STEM, etc.)? Lead a small group after school club or provide assistance to an already established club. Meetings begin at 3:45.
Classroom Support: Partner with a teacher needing an extra set of hands. Support may be needed on a regular basis or for short term projects.
Financial Literacy for Parents: Help educate our DECA parents about financial literacy. This could be a one time presentation or a series of presentations throughout the school year.
Deca High School
DECA High: Grades 9-12
Location: University of Dayton Fitz Hall, 3rd Floor, 300 College Park Dayton, OH 45469-2930
Adopt-a-Freshman: Partner with a freshman student to provide mentorship and encouragement throughout the first year of high school.
Gateway Practice: All DECA High students must pass through a series of gateways to graduate from high school. Volunteers are needed to come in and help students prepare and practice for gateway presentations.
Montgomery County College Promise Mentor: Be a mentor in this program that DECA directly benefits from. College Promise mentors meet with one high school student each week. For more information: http://mcocp.org/index.html
Host a Job Shadow/Internship/Professional Lecture: Contact Brittany Lewis, Director of Community Involvement at email@example.com to learn more about these opportunities.
Have a hobby you’d like to teach others? Host a small group of students after school to share your passion and relay a new skill to interested students. We are especially interested in providing robotics, mock trial/law, STEM, art, literacy, and leadership experiences for our high school students.
