What are the school hours?
School begins at 8:45 a.m. and ends at 3:35 p.m. Students may enter the building at 8:00 a.m. and can optionally remain until 4:45 for supervised study tables Tuesday through Friday.
Is there a tuition?
No, DECA is a public charter school and free to students.
Will transportation be available to and from school?
Students requiring transportation are issued monthly RTA passes good between 6:00 – 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Will students be allowed to participate in after school sports?
While DECA does not offer sports, students may register at one of the Dayton public schools that is located closest, in distance, to their address of residency.
What are the food service options?
Students eat in the DECA school cafeteria with food provided by an external vendor. Free and reduced rate lunches are available for eligible students. Once students pass gateway 3, they are permitted to go off campus with parent approval.
Will tutors and mentors be available?
Yes, DECA has numerous volunteers from UD and the Dayton community.
Are uniforms required?
While uniforms are not required, reasonable and appropriate dress is expected at all times. Business attire is expected for certain job shadows and internship.
How many students are enrolled at DECA?
Typical enrollment is around 300 students in grades 9 through 12; however, new student enrollment is limited to incoming 9th graders only.
Will students have storage for personal items, coats and packed lunches?
DECA has an open floor concept with improvised locker space that is generally “unlockable.” Students are discouraged from bringing items of value that cannot be contained in a backpack.
Can special needs students attend DECA?
Yes, students on individual learning plans with accommodations are accepted at DECA.
